All registration applications will be made over MERSIS as of 7 May 2018 in Istanbul Trade Registry. Prior to this switch to MERSIS system, all documentation required for the registration procedures were delivered by hand to the registry directorate and an electronic application over MERSIS was not required except for certain registration transactions.

For the registration procedures, it is possible to submit the applications either by (1) registering into the system with a user account to be opened in the name of the authorized person to represent and bind the company (“Signatory”) or (2) proxy through appointment of a proxy on the company’s behalf by the Signatory.

1) In order to initiate these procedures, the Signatory must be identified in the MERSIS system, if not already identified as such in the system. For any such transaction or the identification of foreign citizens in MERSIS, e-mails may be directly sent to [email protected].

Once the relevant person is identified as Signatory in the system, it is required for such Signatory to open a MERSIS account over https://mersis.gtb.gov.tr. Signatory may open the account by using details on his/her Turkish ID Card. If the Signatory is a foreign citizen, it is required to insert certain passport information along with contact details such as mobile number and e-mail address. Currently, there is no necessity to obtain an e-signature to access the MERSIS account.

2) When the Signatory account is opened, the Signatory may either submit necessary documentation in the MERSIS in person or may appoint a proxy over the “Proxy Transactions” section for such submission. After the name of the Signatory’s company is chosen in the Proxy Transactions, the Signatory may continue with the appointment in the “Appoint Proxy” section and will be required to insert the proxy’s Turkish ID Card details. From this point on, the proxy may submit the registration request on MERSIS.

Upon completion of the electronic submission by the Signatory or the proxy, the request number that is generated automatically must be inserted in the application petition to be delivered by hand to the registry with original documents related to the registration request made in MERSIS.
